Backmask tells the story of troubled 1970s rock star Billy Chapman (David Shields, Masters of the Air, Black Mirror) and his pregnant wife, Lana, as they escape to a sprawling, isolated mansion in the English countryside. Following the break-up of his chart-topping band, Billy is desperate to channel his creative energy into his first solo album, but the retreat quickly turns sinister when he discovers a haunting backmasked voice embedded in his reel-to-reel recordings. The cryptic whispers, paired with the mansion’s eerie history, fuel Billy’s paranoia and obsession and trigger a horrifying turn of events.
