We’re thrilled to share that Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals has won Gold in the Documentary category at this year’s Telly Awards — honouring impactful documentary storytelling. This award adds to a growing list of festival recognitions for the film, which continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
Directed by Ian Derry and told through the eyes of Selma, a Saudi female freediver, the documentary dives deep into the urgent fight to protect coral reefs from climate change — from the unexplored reefs of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline to the warming waters of Mexico, during the hottest year on record. Beneath the Surface is a call to action — a powerful exploration of science, conservation, and the global collaboration needed to save our oceans.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped bring this story to life, and to the Telly Awards for recognising it.
