Waterbear, Park Village & Louis VI to Create Original Content at the Intersection of Music and Nature
“Nature is full of sound. Its sounds are screaming out, trying to talk to us. We really need to start listening.”
Louis VI, known for his unique blend of artistry and activism, is set to lead several new formats, around nature and the environment. The multi-episodic series, UNEXPECTED WILD, will take Louis VI and artists from around the globe to some of nature’s most unique and diverse soundscapes, where they will create music inspired by the natural environment.
“Music and performance bring people in. It’s such a relatable, contemporary way of talking to and connecting with audiences about the big issues facing cultures and communities all across the world,” says Louis VI. “We have a chance to use sound and music as a new entry point to have conversations with audiences everywhere about some of these bigger issues like climate change and the future of the planet. And these are important conversations that we all need to be having.”
UNEXPECTED WILD will offer audiences a unique access to the creative process of artists as they interact with and draw inspiration from the world’s most diverse and captivating ecosystems. "With Louis VI as our guide, the series will journey to some of the most spectacular places in the world—biodiverse and unique ecosystems teeming with never-before-recorded sounds," explains series creator and Executive Producer Megan G Wells. "It will allow both the artists and the audience to experience these land and soundscapes in some very unexpected ways."
The format is in development with Park Village, and alongside Wells, Executive Producers Adam Booth & Oliver Allgrove are attached to the project. The series and other formats will aim to not only entertain but also highlight the pivotal role nature plays in addressing the climate crisis, using storytelling to entertain people into action.
A passionate nature advocate and zoologist, Louis VI has been a prominent voice in both the entertainment and environmental spaces. He delivered a keynote speech at Beyond the Music festival, emphasizing the music industry's role in empowering its artists to speak out on climate change and biodiversity loss. His recent album, EARTHLING, further explores themes of climate justice, race, love, and the environment, and has been praised for its immersive narrative and powerful messaging.
